Register to Vote
Special thanks to the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, the Chester County Election Commission, and the Pennsylvania Department of State for the content of their informative web sites used to create this page. You must register in order to vote. To be eligible to register, you must: 1. Be eighteen (18) years of age by the election day 2. Be a United States citizen for at least one month before election day 3. Have lived in your election district for at least 30 days before the election day How to Register * You can visit the Headquarters of the Chester County Democratic Party at 37 S. High Street in West Chester on Monday through Saturday between the hours of 10:30AM and 3:00PM to obtain a registration form. * You can call the offices of the Pennsylvania Secretary of State at 1-800-552-VOTE (8683) and request a voter registration form be mailed to you. * You can go to the Pennsylvania Secretary of States web site, complete an online form, print it, and mail it to the Chester County Voter Services Office, PO Box 2747, West Chester PA 19380-0990. * You can visit the Chester County Voter Services Office at 601 Westtown Road, Suit 150, in West Chester. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.chesco.org/election/reg.htm or call them at 610-344-6380 or 610-344-6410. * You can register to vote when you renew your Drivers License in person at PENNDOT. You need to register to vote if: * You have never registered to vote * You have moved (into PA or into a new voting district in PA) since the last time you voted * You want to change your party affiliation There is a mix-up in your registration and you needed a court order to vote in the last election You should re-register to vote if: * You have changed your name since the last election * You have moved since the last time you voted, even if you still reside in the same election district The First Time You Vote There is a new regulation in Pennsylvania requiring that you present proof of your identity the first time that you vote after registering. The following are acceptable forms of identification. * Valid drivers licence or Dept. of Transporation identification card * Valid identification card isued by any other agency of the Commonwealth * Valid identification card issued by the United States government * Valid US passport * Valid student identification card * Valid employee identification card * Valid US Armed Forces identification card Non-Photo Identification * Voters identification card issued by the voter registration commission * Identification or other document issued by the Commonwealth or any of its agencies which shows the name and address of the voter * Identification or other document issued by the U.S. government or any of its agencies which shows the name and address of the voter * A firearm permit * A current utility bill * A current bank statement * A pay check * A government check Absentee Ballots If you plan on being out of town for either the Primary or General Election, you can obtain an Absentee Ballot.
